Laparoscopic large bowel surgery has been in use since early 90s.
We can use this approach for most large bowel surgery with very good early postoperative and oncologic results.
In combination with the application of a fast tract recovery system, results in early hospital discharge.
Special advanced laparoscopic training is required beyond the basic colorectal surgery one.
There is a long learning curve in order to achieve the same oncologic results to open surgery and this is difficult to be achieved.
